Morgan Chijumani – 2nd Generation
Morgan was born in 1974 in Chimanimani and his totem is Moyo Chirandu. He is 2nd born in a family of 5. He works alongside his brother Edmore who is also one of our artists. He is married. He started sculpting in 1994 and works mostly in Fruit Serpentine and Springstone. He is a member of Revival Art Centre in Chitungwiza. His work is unique and easily recognisable as he specialises in sculpting women’s heads with long necks often intertwined . He describes his work as “long necks fine art” and says his influence come from African culture and daily living. He is self-taught in stone sculpting. His works has been included in many exhibitions and sold around the world. Morgan’s goals are to preserve the Zimbabwean Art Culture which is a goal that is right at our heart here at Heritage.
